I have worked on dairy farms for 25 years. I used to get by without knowing how to read or needing to use reading.
I was nervous. I had some goals. I was not sure I could even do them.
I met a tutor from CVABE. I have been seeing Cedric for 7 years now to work on reading. My reading is a lot better now.
My daughter was going to school and she was bringing homework home. I asked if her teacher could give me some homework also. She did. Now I can sit down with my kids and read a book with them. I could never do that before.
On my job, I can now read what's on the chalkboard--- things I need to know on the job.
I did study to get my CDL (commercial driver's license). The book was hard with a lot of reading. That was one of my goals that I did!
I would say to anyone, “Never give up and you will see a change in time”
