Volunteer Orientation and Training Calendar

CVABE cordially invites all volunteers to join staff for free training opportunities.  All of these sessions are for new and experienced volunteers alike.  We can all learn from each other and look forward to gaining fresh perspectives from your experience.

You are also encouraged to bring a friend or relation who may be interested in volunteering at CVABE.

We hope to see you at any or all of these events! It is always fun and refreshing to meet others who support CVABE’s mission to bring full literacy to our neighbors in Washington, Orange and Lamoille Counties.

Shop Talk: Developing Student Leadership

Nancy Dulac will share ideas for developing student leadership. Nancy, CVABE's Operations Assistant, attended The National Adult Learner Leadership Institute and is enthusiastic to share the information she gathered at the conference. She will listen and respond to your ideas as well as we work together to develop more leadership expression in our students. As we know, sharing, listening to and brainstorming ideas lead to the eventual development of putting into practice those things which benefit our students.

We encourage you to attend as the success of our peer support group depends on your interest and your input. We look forward to seeing you!

Please RSVP Jeanne at jeannemarie426@comcast.net or Sarah at sbraunhamilton@cvabe.org or 223-3403.

Shop Talk: All About ADP (Adult Diploma Program)

Joanne Vyce, Adult Diploma Program Assessor, will present an in-depth look at ADP. Adults in Vermont have a unique alternative to earning a GED. Many CVABE students (ages18-80) have earned a high school diploma through The Adult Diploma Program. ADP is designed to be completed independently, but many of our students need help completing the five projects that make up their portfolios. Several CVABE volunteers have played a key role in helping ADP students complete their portfolios to obtain a high school diploma. During this session, Joanne will describe ADP, show samples of student work and lead a discussion as to how volunteers can help ADP students achieve this important goal.

We encourage you to attend as the success of our peer support group depends on your interest and your input. We look forward to seeing you!
