NorthCounry Federal Credit Union (NCFCU) donated $3,000 to Central Vermont Adult Basic Education (CVABE), in support of the Access to Education Fund.  The fund breaks down “barriers to education,” and provides adult learners with financial support necessary for them to pursue further education and attain their career and college goals.

“We recognize the paradox in adult education,” says Carol Shults-Perkins, Executive Director of CVABE. “Due to financial reasons, those who most need our services are often unable to access them. The Access to Education Fund helps to remove these financial barriers,” Shults-Perkins continues. “With the generous support of NCFCU, we are able to help our students with resources they may need to engage in their learning: daycare costs, gas money and bus passes, and even the costs of GED testing.”

“We appreciate the valuable resources, encouragement, and support you provide for our community, and hope our financial support will help you further your work. Best wishes for a successful program,” says Brian Jaffarian, Public Relations Specialist at NCFCU.

“NCFCU is truly a local partner in learning,” says Shults-Perkins. “Their generosity will help dozens of adult learners in Washington, Orange and Lamoille Counties to dream, believe, learn and achieve. It will open opportunities and change lives of individuals and their families."

CVABE, now in its 55th year of service, provides free adult education and literacy services to Washington, Orange and Lamoille counties in Vermont. The individualized and goal-drive instruction opens opportunities that lead to careers and further education.
